When ordering flanges and forgings at Hertecant, you can be sure that they will be of excellent quality, custom-made, or according to numerous standards. But how do we succeed every time? Read on for a unique look behind the scenes.
First, we thoroughly analyze your order. What material should your flanges or forgings be made of? What dimensions and tolerances should they have? What is the weight of the forging and what die should we use? What tests should be done? Based on all this information, we brief our quality department and sawing, forging, and machine shops so that our professionals know exactly what they need to deliver.
Either we start working with the metal you delivered or we provide the proper raw material ourselves. In any case, we always work with materials of guaranteed European quality. We first saw or cut the required pieces, as you can see in the video.
Before forging we heat the metal to the correct forging temperature, as required by the standards. Then we give it its approximate shape using our ring rolling machine or a forging hammer and the right die. Afterwards, the metal cools down in water or air. Spectacular, wouldn’t you say?
Once the metal has cooled down, it does not yet have the exact required shape or dimensions. So we continue to machine the forging, using CNC-lathes and drilling centers. This is done until the piece meets the required standard or your technical drawing to perfection. With an outstanding result, as you can see!
Time to make the necessary markings on the flange. The technical properties, including the material grade, are marked on the outside diameter. Again, we strictly follow the required standard or your wishes as a customer. You can find out how we mark the flange in our video.
Throughout the entire production process, we closely monitor the quality. But before we pack, there is a final quality check. Using our digital measuring arm if necessary, we check whether the dimensions remain within the allowed tolerances. At the same time, we verify the material by means of a PMI test.
Once the flanges and forgings meet the exact requirements, we can start the shipping process. Our logistics department carefully boxes the flanges so that they reach you in perfect condition. It also takes care of the packing notes and material certificates. Afterwards, we load the box or pallet onto the truck, to be delivered in no time, anywhere in the world.
